Chapter 11

“Jules, how do I look?”

Konya strikes a pose in front of me, having on a pale blue sundress.

It’s almost time for me to depart to the Lycanthrope Wager, and Konya decided that I needed new clothes for the trip. However, as soon as we got to the mall, she began browsing the isle of dresses, trying to find something to wear for a party she has to go to.

“Amazing, Konya. But did we have to bring Adrian along?”

Adrian is seated beside me at the shop, trying to look anywhere else but at Konya. His entire face is as red as a tomato, seeing her in front of him, looking gorgeous in her silk dress.

Konya had thought that it would be a good idea to bring the Ceruli along, for reasons that I’m not aware of. If I didn’t know any better, I would think she was interested in him, but Konya’s already dating someone who’s human.

“Adrian, what do you think? Does this dress make my bum look too big?” She turns sideways, trying to view herself in the body mirror by the dressing room. The action makes the muscles on her arms flex, and Adrian looks as if he will faint any second now.

“I-It looks g-good,” he stammers. Konya eyes him, “just good?” she pouts, “come on Waters, I need to look good for the party, so I need your honest suggestion here!”

She turns away, and I catch the sly smirk on her face. You vixen!

I get up, “that’s enough, Konya. Adrian and I have to prepare for the wager that’s in a week. We don’t have time to help you shop for party dresses.”

“Hey, mind yourself, I came here for you. Not my fault you’re a picky buyer,” she rolls her eyes, leaving to change back into her clothes before coming out with the dress bunched up in her hands.

“I’m not buying this then.”

She walks ahead, swaying her hips with playful attitude. Adrian fumbles beside me, reaching for the dress my cousin just discarded.

I look at him questioningly, but he motions at me to walk ahead with Konya. I nod, understanding that he’s about to buy the dress for her.

He walks out after 10 minutes, shuffling his feet as he stands in front of Konya, who’s looking at him curiously.

“What is it?”

“Here!” Adrian thrusts the shopping bag in her hands clumsily, before speed walking away, mumbling about going to the food court to eat something.

Konya stares at his disappearing frame, a surprised look on her face. “What was that?”

“What does it look like? He bought you the dress because you looked nice in it, not much to it,” deciding to keep Adrian’s secret feelings with me, I give Konya a straight answer. However, I cannot miss the hint of red on her cheeks as she stares after Adrian.

After she has recovered, we link arms and go to the next stop, which is selling clothes made out of real animal fur. Although I’m against animal cruelty, I’m confident that
